Breville Smart Oven BOV800XL Review
Breville BOV800XL
There is no doubt that Breville Smart Oven BOV800XL have become a staple in many households across the country. When I set out to find the best toaster oven, I was overwhelmed by the number and variety of ovens available in the marketplace. Following extensive research, I discovered that whilst numerous ovens are available, the one that stands out from the rest in terms of function, performance, and user feedback is the Breville Smart Oven BOV800XL. The BOV800XL is an 1800-watt mixture convection toaster oven with Breville’s signature Element IQ. The Breville’s outstanding performance led me to think that it’s certainly a contender for the #1 spot amongst convection toaster ovens on the market. Let me show you why.
What’s Element IQ?
The Element IQ element of the oven is technologies which allows the oven to cook in the correct power for the proper amount of time. This technology self-adjusts, so that the oven utilizes the correct power depending on the cooking job selected. Rather than having a fixed wattage, the Element IQ works comparable to the dimmer in a light switch by turning energy up or down. This feature is among the highlights from the Breville BOV800XL, and results in excellent tasting food that’s cooked to perfection.
Style
One of the first things which drew me towards the Breville Smart Oven was its sleek, modern design and reinforced stainless steel finish. As a counter-top appliance, the Breville definitely will not be an eyesore. The control panel consists of turn-knobs and a couple of buttons, while a viewing window and large handle grace the front. It ought to be noted that the handle stays cool to the touch, even whilst the oven is in use. An easy-to-read, LCD display also graces the front of this appliance. While the Breville undoubtedly has great looks, performance is every thing with regards to kitchen appliances, so I next looked at the operation of the toaster oven to see if it performed as great because it looked. I was not disappointed at what I discovered.
Nuts & Bolts
In researching the Breville BOV800XL, I first looked at how the Smart Oven performs basic functions. The Breville BOV800XL Smart Oven is both a convection oven and a toaster oven. This puts it in a class above standard toaster ovens as the convection oven can perform the same as a conventional wall oven. This was highly appealing to me as I live inside a place that gets very hot especially during the summer. Using this Breville rather than my large oven would mean the house would not get nearly as hot when I cook dinner. The Breville BOV800XL Toaster Oven also uses roughly 50% from the electricity of a large oven, scoring points for anyone looking to reduce their carbon footprint and cut down the electric bill.
The Breville Oven uses 1800-watts and measures 18.5 x 12.5 x 10.75 inches. The nonstick interior is 4/5-cubic feet and can hold a 13-inch pizza pan, a 12 x 12 in baking pan along with a 12 x 12 in broil rack. A 13 x 9 pan will fit in the Smart Oven if it does not have handles.
The BOV800XL oven can fit up to six pieces of toast and toasts and cooks very evenly. Its outstanding cooking power is largely due to its Element IQ technologies, discussed further below. The oven preheats quickly and an indicator beep sounds when it has reached the desired temperature. I love how this takes the guesswork out of wondering if the oven has fully preheated. Additionally, a timer turns off the oven in the end of any cycle. This is also a huge bonus because it prevents food from getting overcooked because I was out of earshot from the oven. Another nice function from the oven is that it is quiet. The convection fans are powerful and won’t break easily, a problem that many users have with other convection ovens.
