Copper burglary during NLR substation creates mineral-oil mess

— A new copper burglary led to a recover of thousands of gallons of vegetable oil in North Little Rock, some of that done a approach into a circuitously H2O supply.

North Little Rock Electric Department General Manager Mike Russ pronounced Tuesday afternoon that an different series of vandals pennyless into a new substation on Highway 391 nearby Galloway and stole copper piping and wires.

In sequence to get to a copper, a theives had to recover about 2,500 gallons of vegetable oil, that spilled out from around a substation.

The occurrence happened between Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning, when it was detected by a application worker.

Russ pronounced anywhere from 200-400 gallons got into a internal H2O supply, though nothing of a oil is believed to be harmful. He combined that a vegetable oil does not enclose and erosive properties.

The cleanup has been ongoing and should be finished today, Russ said.

After a break-in was discovered, Russ pronounced a dialect contacted a North Little Rock Police Department, Environmental Protection Agency and other authorities to support with a cleanup and investigation.

North Little Rock Police Department orator Sgt. Terry Kuykendall pronounced a military have done no arrests in a box during this time.
