Floor Sanding Machines

One of the most popular things in the house interior are wooden floors, and many contractors hire companies which have the needed expertise to install them in apartments and houses. Not only are these floor long lasting and functional, but they also have the ability to change the appearance of a room, making it warm and inviting. Wooden floors need to be maintained carefully, and this cannot be done without a suitable installation. Just like all other things wooden floors lose their shade over time and require restoration. Restoration can successfully be done with floor sanding machines.

There are many different kinds of these machines and each serves a different purpose. The biggest division can be done between the machines for hardwood and soft wood floors. Not everyone can use these machines – a qualified worker is necessary. When one uses the machine improperly, they can damage the floors and in some cases the woods needs to be replaced. In local hardware stores one can find these machines, and also in outlets with similar equipment where they can be rented. Most online stores offer these machines and one can purchase them at a relatively reasonable price.

The floor sanding machines which are used most often are called sanders. They are power run machines and are used for smoothing the wooden surface of the floors. There is more than one kind of sanders, and they all operate differently, and can include flap, disc, belt, spindle, oscillating, detail, straight line, orbital, drum and stroke sanders.  Their rotating mechanisms in most cases have sand paper attached to them and this is something that characterizes all the sanders. Sand paper can have various quality degree and goes from very fine grit and fine grit to medium and coarse. The sanding process is at first laid with the sand paper which is coarse grit, and the final touch of smoothness of the surface of your wooden floor is done using the fine or very fine grit sand paper before it is polished.

Another important type of sanding machines is called edgers. They are regularly used on areas with wooden floors but in places which sanders cannot reach, and in such situations they are used just like them. There are both edgers with electric power and manual ones, and each type, just like all other things, has pros and cons. They can be purchased in outlets with such equipment and in hardware stores, just like the sanders, but one can also find them online.

Another common type of sanding machines is called buffers. These machines are, unlike sanders and edger, used only to polish the wooden floors, and they are the thing that gives the shiny effect to the floors made of wood. One can operate them in the same manner as edges and sanders, but these have pads and not sand papers. They produce heat while operating and work at a very high speed. The heat is the key element which gives the floors the shiny and glossy look.

Even though people don’t use them to sand, vacuum cleaners are also important floor sanding machines. The sanding process produces large quantities of dust and they are unhealthy to inhale. After each session of sanding it is recommended, by technicians who sand floors, to vacuum clean the floors so the dust would be collected for recommended disposal. There are dust bags in vacuum cleaners and all the dust vacuumed is directed into them.
