How You Use Air Die Grinders – ToolsRUs
There are many different projects that will call for the use of air die grinders. This tool can be used on big jobs and small jobs. If it is a small job that the grinder is needed for then it you’d probably want to use a mini grinder rather than a full size one. It is very important to use the right size grinder for the job you’re working on.
When it comes to smoothing out rough edges or cutting through any number of materials you’ll find air die grinders are great. They can cut through and smooth out metal and wood and host of other materials. The proper way to use them though is actually determined by the disc that you use.

Your grinder will have lots of different discs that you can choose from to use. All air grinders, no matter the brand, have a wide variety of discs. The discs all do different things and different discs work better on different kinds of materials.
It is best to use the various discs on practice surfaces prior to getting started with a real project. You will want to see how each disc cuts or how the different disc surfaces smooth out the various materials you want them to be applied to. The discs that are rougher will still smooth surfaces, but are best used on surfaces with very rough edges as an example. If you are looking to smooth something that is a little finer then you’ll need a disc with a little finer surface.
You also need to get used to how you operate the air grinder. The powerful air pressure takes a little bit of getting used to. Until you are skilled with the extra power from the air pressure you want to take it easy and avoid finer work. You can probably start on big projects that don’t require such a fine finish. Cutting through some scrap metal though may be the best way to get going and to get a feel for your new tool.
