Little Shoppe heads to the lake

When the stars align, sometimes that’s all it takes to instigate change.

That’s how The Little Shoppe manager Kristine Kerr sums up their decision to open a satellite location at Clear Lake this summer.

“We just looked around and we had a lot of extra stock in storage and the option to go to Clear Lake so we thought, OK let’s do it,” Kerr told the Sun. “It just kind of happened, so we’ve ordered new stock, taken some out of storage and are ready to see what happens. We think we’ll be a good fit.”

The Little Shoppe introduced itself to Clear Lake shoppers for the first time yesterday.

For those familiar with the multitude of treasures available in Brandon, Kerr says shoppers can expect the same unique giftware, jewelry and home décor that fill the rafters of its two-storey Brandon store, plus a bit more.

The Little Shoppe is located at 126 Wasagaming Drive and is open daily from noon until 6 p.m.

Once summer vacation kicks into high gear, the store will extend its hours to 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

THE ULTIMATE HAIR CENTRE

After more than a decade at 757 13th St., Kathy Mazier has packed up her salon and moved downtown.

The Ultimate Centre offers the latest technology in hair replacement technology and solutions for all types of hair loss.

Mazier has experience with men, women and children of all ages who are experiencing thinning or complete hair loss.

Treatments are applicable for those undergoing chemotherapy treatment, experiencing alepacia or simply genetic hair loss or pattern baldness.

The new salon is located in the Rosser Mall at Unit H 435 Rosser Ave., beside Fabricland.

NORTHGATE PLAZA

The vacant lot at the corner of 18th Street and Maple Avenue is on the verge of a whole lot of activity.

The necessary paperwork to develop the property where Aunt Sarah’s Family Restaurant once stood is currently going through Brandon Area Planning. The plan is to develop a 10,500-square-foot, mini mall-style retail hub, realtor Cam Plante told the Sun this week. No word on when shovels will hit the ground, but stay tuned for more information.

ELEGANCE IN STONE

Yet another Winnipeg-based company unveiled its first Brandon location this month.

Elegance in Stone is a direct importer and manufacturer of granite and natural stone slabs that specializes in exotic slabs from Brazil and Italy.

With ties to some of the oldest quarries in the world, Elegance in Stone staff are in constant search for new and unique stone products, the company website states.

The all-things-granite and stone slab specialists are open for business at Unit B 1150 19th St.

SHOPPERS MALL

As promised, Shoppers Mall manager Kim James announced some big, big news this week.

After much online debate and conjecture, it’s finally official — the city’s fifth Tim Hortons is on its way.

Construction is set to begin in September with the intention of unveiling a full-menu 700-square-foot Timmies in November.

Tim Hortons will take up residency in the space that Canada Post, Gateway Newsstands and the mall Guest Services Centre will soon vacate.

Canada Post is on its way to Sobeys South in July, while the Guest Services Centre will relocate to the space that We Sell Showcase and the old lotto booth have left behind.

The fate of Gateway Newstand is yet to be determined, but James says the company is negotiating with the tenant for a location within the mall.

And that’s not all:

* Chatters joined the list of tenants this month, making the mall location its second in Brandon.

* Northshore Outfitters/Next Generation unveiled its larger, newly revamped space this week.

* New York Fries is closed for renovations and is expected to launch its new image and NYF Poutinerie that will serve up funky new menu items like butter chicken poutine and braised beef poutine before the end of June.
