Patel lays foundation stone for fire station, staff quarters
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said under the city development plan, Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) would construct fire station, staff quarters and community hall in the city to cater best facilities to the people of the city in view of the increasing population. The construction would be completed in a year at the cost of Rs 2.85 crore.
The Gujarat government under the Swarnim Gujarat Scheme, has already allotted Rs 200 crore to RMC for the various development schemes and further announced that government would also allocate Rs 70 crore more to the RMC for the development of the city and perhaps it would go up to Rs 100 crore, he said. The final decision in this regard will be taken in the cabinet meeting before the end of the month.
He said the Gujarat government has made a provision of Rs 7,000 crore for 159 municipal councils and municipal corporations for the various development schemes under the Swarnim Gujart Scheme. Of which, Rs 3,500 crore had already been allotted to various municipal councils and municipal corporations, he informed.
To ease the further water woes of the Saurashtra region, the government would lay the pipeline at the cost of Rs 4,000 crore. He said for Rajkot district, Rs 897 crore would be allocated for laying of the 146 km water pipeline from Dhanki to Ratanpar to Rajkot.
Mr Patel slammed the Congress for creating constitutional crisis over the issue of appointment of the Lokayukta in Gujarat.
