Police: Woman attacks man with hairspray at Cherry Road shop
ROCK HILL A Rock Hill woman is accused of assaulting a man with a can of hairspray after shoplifting at a Cherry Road beauty supply store.
Alexis Sade Hayes, 23, is charged with strong arm robbery, according to a Rock Hill police report.
Police say Hayes was at Cherry Beauty Supply Thursday afternoon when she placed several items in her purse. A worker confronted her as she walked toward the door and when he tried to grab the bag, Hayes hit him in the head with a can of hairspray, the report states.
She then fled, dropping her purse, and left in a Ford Explorer.
The man had blood on his face and shirt and was holding a towel to his head when police arrived. The worker was taken to Piedmont Medical Center for treatment to his head injuries.
Officers stopped the SUV in the 2200 block of Cherry Road, where Hayes told police she was acting in self-defense.
Hayes also was taken to the hospital in reference to abdominal pains because she is pregnant. She was later arrested.
The merchandise, valued at $50, was recovered.
Hayes has several prior shoplifting charges, according to the report.
