Portable Air Conditioners A Must On A Hot Day
These days we can barely imagine life without the cool, pleasant atmosphere provided by air conditioning. That feeling of relief as we step inside on a sweltering hot day is without doubt beneficial to one’s well being. However, there are places where it is not possible to install these systems. Portable air conditioners are very useful in these circumstances. They are also very handy for cooling small indoor areas.
The portable unit can be used in places where central air conditioning systems are not necessary or practical. Indoor areas like offices and apartments are suited to them. Outdoor places like garages and warehouses are also suitable for these units. An area of about 200-500 square feet can be cooled sufficiently. The main advantage of these items is that they can be moved to other locations. In addition they can be used as heaters and humidifiers when needed.
It is important to know how these portable devices work in order to get the optimum benefit from them. The warm air is pumped out of the room and, once processed and cooled, pumped back to the room . Heat is simply recycled and cooled down. Many people are under the wrong impression that they suck out the heat and deliver cool air.
This cooling appliance works in the same way as a refrigerator. It works on the principle that evaporation of coolants causes cooling. The components include a compressor, insulation, a thermostat, cooling coils amongst others.
A compressor will compress the gas into a hot gas which will flow through the insulation coils. The heat will disappear and flow into a liquid form which will pass through an expansion valve where evaporation occurs. The liquid becomes a cool gas which will then pass through several coils. These coils extract all of the heat from the gas and results in the temperature of the room decreasing. The cycle will repeat itself over and over again.
Portable air conditioners can also remove excess moisture from the atmosphere. This is when they dehumidify the air in a room. The water can then be used to cool the cooling coils after which it is released via a hose pipe. The appliance works at a high efficiency level when it recycles water in the atmosphere. The inclusion of a filter helps to eradicate impurities like dust and pollen as well.
These appliances can be installed almost anywhere. However, it is important to ensure that there is sufficient venting to carry out the warm air. Most of them come with window venting attachments which you can modify according to the needs of the room. The exhaust hose should be as flexible as possible and measure about five to seven feet in length with a diameter of about 5 inches.
The practical features of portable air conditioners make them very economical. It is a versatile tool to cool your home during those hot days. Their mobility allows them to be used in a wide variety of places. If you spend a lot of time working in an outside building, they can be great to have around.
