Power distribution company faces peoples’ ire once again
INDORE: Two staffers stationed at MP West Power Distribution Company Limited (MPWPDCL) Azad Nagar office to attend to consumers’ complaint, had to hide themselves in the toilet when angry residents pelted stones and ransacked their workplace over disruption of power supply in their area.
Angry consumers of Alok Nagar came to the office alleging that there was no power for more than a day in their locality, despite repeated complaints to the MPWPDCL officials. They pelted stones and ransacked the MPWPDCL’s office on late Sunday night.
MPWPDCL area assistant engineer C A Thakar said that a line supplying power to Alok Nagar busted due to rainfall and they got complaint of it on Sunday morning. “We repaired the line but it busted again in the evening,” he added. “After this some people came to the office and registered a complaint. They were assured that their complaint will be soon taken care of as the electricity repair team was working on some other line, Thakar said. However, a little after 10.30 in the night a crowd of about 30 to 40 people turned up at our office and pelted stone and broke windows, he said adding that the line repair team corrected the fault in Alok Nagar after midnight. “We are going to lodge a complaint with the police against the people who pelted stones at the office,” Thakar said.
This was the second incident of manifestation of people’s anger on MPWPDCL. On late Saturday night, three staffers of MPWPDCL’s office at Gandhinagar locality had to runaway from their work place when large number of people protested and tried to enter their office to lodge complaint over the erratic power supply in their locality.
